5:54, followed by a 5:52
Ran mile repeats down at the Hanscom track yesterday. Couldn't even tell you the last time I ran mile repeats on a track.
Started off with a half mile jog and then threw in 2 X 200 at 38 and 37 seconds respectively with a 200 jog in between.
Knocked the 1st mile out in 5:54 where in true on track mile fashion ran the 1st and 4th laps the fastest: 86 and 88 seconds. Walked 200, jogged 600 to recover. Max HR 188.
Knocked the 2nd mile out at 5:52 and ran the last 400 in 84 seconds. Felt pretty good throughout until I really pushed the pace on the last lap and my HR rocketed up to 192. Walked 100, then jogged 700 for a cool down.
All and all feeling pretty good about the shape I am in. Running 6 minute pace seems to be fairly sustainable for a few miles at the moment. Dropping down to 5:40ish, not so much.
Next up Turkey Trail Trot in SF a week from tomorrow and then the Jingle Bell 5K in 32 days. Aiming to crack 18:37 (6 min pace) in the Jingle Bell 5K.
